BFW was a success!

As promised I am posting some of the pictures from Baltimore Fashion Week 2009. I must say, even though behind the scenes was somewhat hectic the first day About Face Beauti participated, the looks turned out flawless!

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 was the first day that we attended and was a part of the makeup team. The look of the day, "Blackberry". We had to create somewhat of a Goth look to each model. Black smokey eye, with liner on the top and bottom, contoured cheekbones, deep burgundy/plum lip......and the eyebrow! Oh the infamous eyebrow. The brows had to be created from scratch. The brow started with being covered with wax on the ends. We then used MAC black trax to draw a slightly thick brow that came to a point going up towards the temple. {see pictures}

The show on Wednesday was GREAT! One of my favorite up and coming designers showcased his work... Ying Edge Designs. He is a great designer and only 18 years old!!! Talent has no age limitations, if you've got it you got it!
Thursday, August 13, 2009 About Face Beauti was back in the house recreating the look "Peaches & Cream". A much simpler look than our previous day! Gray smokey eye with white liner in the water line, a pinkish tone cheek, with a peach lip. Very simple! Yet it still came across great on the runway. It was a very young & fresh look.
Again there were AMAZING designers, a group of teenagers came all the way from Georgia to showcase their work of DUCK TAPE ART!! Yes, duck tape! Dresses, pants suits, shoes, corset tops, blazers, trench coats, you name it...they had created it...out of duck tape! it was awesome to say the least!
All & all I will say that the experience of Baltimore Fashion Week was a good one, I got to network with other makeup artist as well as designers. I was able to work with a great team under the direction of our Key artist, Ms. LaDonna Brooks. I also got to showcase my work on the runways of Baltimore.....next stop? Looking to showcase my talent on many more runways!!

Elegance In Bridal Showcase update....

As promised I am back with an update on my experience as a vendor AND makeup artist for the 2009 Elegance In Bridal Showcase.

I had a GREAT time! The experience was so much fun!

Being the EXCLUSIVE makeup artist for the fashion show was a great (and tiresome..yet i wouldnt have it ) experience. The models were fantastic, very easy going and oh so professional! A sweep of shadow over the eyes to compliment the models eye color and skin tone...blush...and a deep shade on the lip. With so many models and so little time, the looks were kept SIMPLE yet elegant!

The models hair also complimented their makeup very well. Top Notch Styles (
http://www.topnotchstyles1.com/) provided the hair service, and gave each girl and classic bun with a twist. With the models hair being pulled away from their faces it really showcased the makeup beautifully!

Having a vendor booth was also a SUCCESS!

I chose to go with a tiffany blue shade on the tables(with a hint of red roses for romance of course). The theme was SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING BLUE...there were photos showcasing models in modern day makeup as well as a bit of a vintage look. Our giveaway prizes were in tall tiffany blue and white gift bags with the "something old,..." wording. White rose petals and red rose clusters were placed around the table, with hints of hershey kisses mixed in!

I mustt say THANK YOU to my support that I had that day, Mareesa D (the queen of marketing.
http://www.mareesad.com/) she really came thru and helped with pulling potential clients in and giving them the ABOUT FACE BEAUTI spiel! The brides seemed very interested in the services that About Face has to offer and I look forward to being the artist of choice for each and every one of their weddings!!!

New Edition

Blogger! Finally!

I had another blog and was so not into it...so I said, new start...new blog....and here i am!

To give a brief introduction I am Melissa, owner & makeup artist of About Face Beauti makeup artistry & image consulting. Been in business since 2005...and loving every minute of it!! Creating flawless faces time after time is my mission...perfection to my standard is my goal....makeup is my passion! enough about me {for now}.

FAST FORWARD..............................................................

June of 2009 I added my very first team member...Victoria "Vicki" Berkeley!! I am so excited to have Vicki on the AFB team! She has a passion for the art of makeup the same as I do. She is interested in exploring the tv/film aspect of this industry (where as I am more focused on editorial beauty, runway, etc.) Vicki is not afraid to take chances in her artistry and always has a keen eye and open ear for learning new things! Now that she is a part of the AFB team I think great things are in store for us all!!!

June of 2009 About Face Beauti also RELAUNCHED our website,
http://www.aboutfacebeauti.com/. This has been a long time in the making and its FINALLY here! Thank you to DreamTecs Designs (http://www.dreamtecs.com/) for putting up with my wants, likes, dislikes, & STRONG dislikes! I'm a hard one to work with/for sometimes, especially when it comes to my business and the vision i see for it....I want it MY WAY or the HIGHWAY! :) BUT...It has come together nicely & I appreciate all the hardwork! Its not 100% yet, but 99.5 isn't that bad either :)

I'm looking forward to letting go and letting God guide me (and Vicki) to new heights unseen & unimaginable! Please stay tuned for more fashion, fabulousness, makeup & of course.....ME!! until next time.......

About Face Beauti makeup artistry & image consulting is and always will be...BEAUTIFULLY BLESSED!
